Grimail Crawford prepared a transportation analysis for the expansion of the Plantation Inn resort hotel in Crystal River, Florida. This analysis involved a detailed determination of capacity on Ft. Island Trail, which serves as a hurricane evacuation route. Sites included Freedom Elementary, Elementary School J. and McNeal Elementary. Grimail Crawford provides continuing transportation planning and engineering services for the Oakbridge DRI in Lakeland, Florida. Oakbridge is a multi-use DRI that includes the innovative Lakeside Village, an outdoor, main-street style shopping center. Our staff worked with Oakbridge and the City of Lakeland to develop a self-sufficient community with internal mobility options to minimize external traffic impacts. Grimail Crawford prepared transportation analyses for four DRI’s within client-owned properties in Manatee and Sarasota Counties, including Lakewood Ranch. These properties included residential, employment and mixed-use land projects. We utilized regional TRANPLAN-based model for trip distribution and future-year volume forecasting. We also performed level of service analyses based on Highway Capacity Manual procedures, with more detailed analyses using the Synchro with SimTraffic traffic operations model. Located in Downtown Tampa, this tower project included 900,000 sq. ft. of office and 125,000 sq. ft. of retail space. Our DRI-based analysis included use of the regional TRANPLAN traffic forecasting model for trip distribution and assignment of project trips and for estimation of future-year background traffic. Tara is a golf course community with approval for approximately 2,800 residential units, 360,000 sq. ft. for commercial and 36 holes of golf. Grimail Crawford’s services for this mixed-use project included preparing traffic impact analyses for DRI-NOPC application and local concurrency approval, and annual traffic monitoring of the project’s impact and adjacent roadway level. Grimail Crawford also designed the widening of the I-75 ramp at SR 70 for the project’s required mitigation. Project completion is expected for third quarter, 2007. >Back to Top

We worked extensively with staff to gain an in-depth understanding of the issues and obstacles in development approvals within the regional, multi-county area.
